Semolina
Semolina is Bay View’s cozy Italian spot where handmade pasta is the star of the show. The menu changes with the seasons, the wine list keeps things interesting, and the plates come out with the kind of care that makes a simple bowl of noodles feel like an occasion. It’s the kind of restaurant that reminds us slowing down over good pasta is always a good idea.

Benelux
A rooftop beer garden with a passport’s worth of Belgian brews and a brunch menu that makes Saturdays feel like holidays. Café Benelux is equal parts European café and Milwaukee hangout—big windows, industrial charm, and a patio view of the Third Ward that never gets old. The beer list reads like a novel, the frites are a must, and if you can snag a spot upstairs on a sunny day, you’ll understand why this place is always buzzing. It’s where we go when we want to pretend we’re abroad without leaving the city.

Room Service
Date-night energy with a secret-club vibe—Thai and Japanese share the stage here, and the mash-up actually sings. Start at the sushi counter with temaki hand rolls, then drift into something warming and aromatic from the Thai side. It’s dinner-only and it books up, so snag a reservation and lean into the glow. You’ll walk out feeling like Bay View just flexed its cosmopolitan side.

Conejitos Place
Paper plates, margaritas that lean heavy on the tequila, and enchiladas that taste even better at midnight. Conejito’s is Milwaukee comfort food without the pretense—cheap, fast, and better than it has any right to be. Our advice: don’t overthink it, just order another round and let the rabbit décor watch over you.

Honeypie
Sweet pies, savory pies, and a diner-style menu that hugs you like Sunday morning. Honey Pie is local comfort food turned into an art form. Come hungry, save room for dessert, and don’t be surprised if you start plotting a second visit before you’ve even left.

Hacienda
Colorful, irreverent, and never afraid to play with flavor. Hacienda takes beer seriously, but everything else with a wink. The taproom is as stylish as their cans, with a patio perfect for wasting away an afternoon. Expect IPAs that push boundaries and sours that keep you guessing.

Shaker's Cigar Bar
Haunted history and cigars rolled into one. Shaker’s is part lounge, part ghost tour, part gangster museum. Grab a whiskey, light up, and sink into the creaky floorboards while stories about Prohibition and old mobsters float through the air. It’s Milwaukee noir at its best.

Barnacle Bud's
Unassuming, beloved waterfront gem that’s worth a chill or shenanigan-filled Saturday afternoon spent posted up on the patio by the river. You'll probably end up here on a rowdy Pedal Tavern outing.

Onesto
Date night? Carbs no thang? Highly recommend the Lobster Ravioli. A glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz on the patio downtown at Onesto is a pretty good way to start off an evening in the city.

Centraal Grand Café & Tappery
This is our “meet me here” spot—Euro grand-café spirit, one of the city’s longest bars, and a brick courtyard that turns brunch into a mini vacation. The Tappery runs deep (75+ things on tap, from bier to coffee), and the menu is built to keep everyone happy—kids, veg, gluten-free, late-night snackers. Sit under the string lights and pretend you’re somewhere along a Dutch canal, then remember you’re in Bay View and smile.

Movida at Hotel Madrid
Spanish small plates, big flavors, and a space that feels like a Madrid night tucked into Milwaukee. From tapas to paella, everything begs to be shared—and the cocktail list is equally ambitious. Movida is where we go when we want to turn dinner into a lingering, celebratory event.

Allie Boy’s Bagelry & Luncheonette
Modern Midwestern bagel shop with New York-worthy hand-rolled bagel sandwiches and smorgasbords. They’re not kidding with their “hand-rolled gold” proclamation – the most authentic NYC bagel in MKE.

La Merenda
Colorful restaurant with a menu of globally inspired small plates and big wine pours. Order the goat cheese curds, butter chicken, and empanadas. Find their sister concept, Engine Company No. 3, for breakfast and brunch in a converted firehouse!

Crafty Cow
This is where burgers get experimental. Think mac-and-cheese piled high, wild toppings, and fried chicken that holds its own. Pair it with a local beer and settle in—Crafty Cow has that relaxed neighborhood energy where nobody’s counting calories, just bites.
